Our Commitment to Sustainability
The Ship Inn encourages and embraces the concepts of sustainability. Where practical, we prefer suppliers who support this crucial action in growing a more sustainable future for generations to come. We prefer local and seasonal products, and have a preference for organic & biodynamic. Many of our products are sourced from a 200km radius of The Ship Inn.
Some achievements so far include:
- Our lamb is sourced direct from the Corish family farm at Goondiwindi.
- Our beef is sourced from Chinchilla and Condamine on the Darling Downs.
- Our fish is line caught or farmed. Our barramundi is farmed at the Humpty Doo Barramundi Farm which was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for its work on sustainability.
- When fresh and available we use locally caught prawns, straight form the trawler at Cabbage Tree Creek.
- Our pork is FREE RANGE and grown on the Darling Downs, and supplied through Adams Smallgoods at Carole Park.
- Our eggs are FREE RANGE and locally laid.
- Our coffee is ORGANIC and sourced by Aromas's coffee under the Rainforest Alliance.
- We grow a lot of the herbs ourselves and source some fantastic organic produce from local markets.
- We sell Mount Warning spring water which is ORGANIC and certified CARBON NEUTRAL.
- We stock Robert Channon's Verdelho & Cabernet Sauvignon, a family owned winery in the Granite Belt district of Queensland.
- We stock Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Shiraz, produced entirely using ORGANIC/ BIODYNAMIC principles.
- We stock Burleigh Brewing Company beers – an independent, locally owned Queensland brewery.
